Day 1: Cusco to Ollantaytambo & Aguas Calientes – Hummingbirds and Inca Heritage
Your Peruvian birding adventure begins early at 5:30 AM with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. Day 2: Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu – Birding at the Lost City of the Incas
An early start after breakfast prepares us for one of the most anticipated moments of the tour: a bus ride to Machu Picchu (2,400m / 7,874ft) to witness the unforgettable sunrise over this UNESCO World Heritage site. Day 3: Birding Along the Urubamba River & Return to Cusco – Endemics and Riverine Species
Our final birding day commences early, focusing on the rich avian habitats along the Urubamba River, particularly near the railway line. This area is renowned for its specialized riverine species and offers excellent chances to spot key birds such as the Torrent Duck, the endemic Green-and-white Hummingbird, the rare Inca Flycatcher (another Peruvian endemic), the vibrant Masked Fruiteater (endemic), and the striking Highland Motmot.
